Chronology of cameras Burke and James

Burke & James is known for its field cameras, but its history extends well before the development of these cameras.

The camera presented here is from the time of the First World War.

It is an exceptionally large folding camera. The format is aptly named postcard. Each negative measures 8 x 14 cm.

While the covering and metal fittings have held up well, the same cannot be said for the bellows. This reveals the cardboard structure hidden beneath the glued fabric.
